You got way too drunk at the party Said some things you'd later regret Guess that's what they call a silver lining Screaming words you'll just as soon forget I don't know what darkness fell upon you You were never one to sit and cry So I don't think you're heartless Or even heartbroken I just think you're lonely And you don't know why You've been lurkin' 'round my neighborhood That's okay, I mean it honestly New man on your arm every evenin' Hopin' that you'll bump into me Never seeking to bruise your ego Yeah you're a looker, but you're cold inside So I don't think you're charming Or very disarming I just think you're lonely Has that crossed your mind? I don't know what I was thinking Burnin' each smoke down to it's ashes I guess every flag looks red when You're wearin' rose-colored glasses I've been makin' idols of my anger Worshipping at them every night Thought I saw you somewhere out laughing But that was just a trick of the light These days I'm doing so much better Sincerely hope you're doing fine Cause I don't think I'mn heartless Or very heartbroken I just think I'm lonely And I sure know why

Crow's Feet 02:58
Crow's feet, waking in the mornin', Coffee and cigarettes Crow's feet, had to tell you why Checkin' off another day And so I laugh at a funeral And so I know that we're better than This is just my way to say You're the beast of another day Crow's feet, laughin' at the simpleness, Empty, never fades away Crow's feet, loungin' in the bitterness, How could I learn to stay? Crow's feet, laughin' at the easiness, So sweet, the way you touch me Crow's feet, just a lil' sleepiness, Runnin' into the cobwebs And so I laugh at another wake And so I know that we're better than How could you just walk away? Spirit, come take me away Crow's feet, laughin' at the insolent, So sweet, the way you walk away Crow's feet, slippin' into wonderin', Daydream, keepin' me asleep Crow's feet, sleepin' and slumberin', Too deep, lost in the sea Crow's feet, used to the bumblin', Happy in my defeat

Well I've been smokin' and drinkin' all night Well I've been fightin' and fallin' all night Well I've been cursin' and prayin' all night Well I've been laughin' and singin' all night Cause I've been smokin' and drinkin' all night Well I've been fuckin' and freein' all night Well I've been livin' and learnin' all night Well I've been dyin' and dancin' all night Cause I've been smokin' and drinkin' all night

Red wine, another crime Sleeping on a sparrow's sill City grime, a pauper's line Write me out of your will Beggar's dance, swollen chance, How could I refuse? Beggar's dance, sullen trance, What's left to lose?

Last tango chain, Standing in the rain, How do I find my way to your arms again? Oh I know how to pace this sorrow Is this another sweet tomorrow? Last tango chain, Prophet of the pain, How do I find my way to your arms again? Oh I know how to pace this sorrow Is this another sweet tomorrow? Last tango chain, Going insane, How do I find my way to your arms again? Oh I know how to pace this sorrow Is this another sweet tomorrow?

about

Half-sung, half-strummed. This album draws inspiration from five pieces in particular:

Nick Drake's album "Pink Moon"
Waxahatchee's album "Saint Cloud"
Beck's album "Morning Phase"
Erik Satie's pieces "Gnossiene No. 1" and "Gymnopedie No. 1"
Django Reinhardt's song "Minor Swing"

Thank you to: Roger for the solo riff in "I Just Think You're Lonely," the rest of the boys at the HoneyHomb for inspiring the album's theme and generally being amazing, creative, and caring dudes, Michael for writing a killer jazz line and being a passionate debater as well as a talented musician and storyteller, my roommates for tolerating my plunking, the boys in Motorcoat for hearing and encouraging some of the first inklings of these songs after practice, that random house party guitarist who showed me a new way to play Django chords, my Pickathon family for boisterously singing along to "Smokin' and Drinkin'," Ethan for encouraging a tricky riff and being a good friend and wily wizard, Alaric for being my best friend and brother, me Ma and Da for everything, and for everyone engaged in a struggle for a better world; I hope this music offers some relief.
